This current monitoring relay is designed by Tense Electronics to protect electrical loads (such as three-phase motors, heaters, and transformers) from high current damage. It also can monitor electrical current on a main or priority circuit. If the current exceeds a set threshold, the relay cuts off non-priority circuits to prevent breaker trips, then automatically restores them when current drops.

Operational Principle

  • Startup: When energized, the relay activates, illuminating the OUT indicator and closing the circuit via its output contact.
  • Overload Event: If the drawn current on any phase surpasses the defined threshold value (A>), the ERR warning light turns on, and a localized countdown timer begins.
  • Tripping Action: If the overcurrent state outlasts the preconfigured delay window, the relay safely cuts the contact output, turning off the OUT light to isolate the downstream load.

Primary Application

Unlike traditional mechanical thermal relays, the microprocessor-based TRM-100 monitoring relay provides much more precise real-time current tracking and protection against phase imbalances or overcurrent faults, effectively extending the service life of industrial electric motors.
